Welcome to the first post of Living Well Unconventionally, where I will write about my life and the ways that I am trying to beat the rat race, work less than 40 hours per week, and make more money than I’ve ever made in any of the jobs I’ve had so far. All of this is hopefully going to take my to that perfect balance I’ve always been hunting for – where I have the time and the energy to do the things I want when I want. Can you imagine?
Here’s my story:
I’m 31 years old and I live in Jacksonville, Florida with my significant other and our four puppers. (Four is not a typo). I have spent the entire 20s decade of my life working the restaurant life and, truth be told, it was the only job that kept my attention for the long term. Before, during, and after my tenure there, I have had things I’ve tried (like the PR desk job that I got my college degree for that I turned out not to like or the few retail stints that were certainly not for me) but none really had the same pull for more than a year or so. As it turns out, I do not care for sitting in an office (while having to eat candy and drink soda to stay awake), being yelled at over the phone, or staring blankly at a computer screen for most of my waking hours.
I find much more excitement in eCommerce and the gig economy. I’m always on the hunt for something that’s better, more fun, or better paying and I’ll try a lot of things once.
Read on if you’re curious and I hope you stay awhile!
